Mon éducation (The Usual Suspects)
Centre d'Art Contemporain, exhibition "Genève, artistes et créateurs d'aujourd'hui", september 2007
Based on the 1995 movie The Usual Suspects, directed by Brian Singer, this series of drawings borrows part of the film's spatial and narrative structure: that of an investigator's office, its walls covered by documents and clues, suggesting a variety of potential semantic relations between these heterogeneous elements. Echoing the movie scenario, this situation offers a conceptual space from which new (meta-)narratives can develop, interrogating the hegemonic writing of history and the production of counter-narratives.
Since its first presentation in 2007, this series mainly appears in the context of other projects and installations, as a superposition of drawing playing with the deceptive – and often discredited – trompe l'oeil genre.
